Sing Out Loud
What We Do
Our mission is not to perform for seniors but have them sing songs that are lodged in their memories. We intentionally do not provide words or music. We have a repertoire of over 400 songs and keep adding more as those we serve suggest new ones. We tailor our selection of songs for our audience.
The Sing Out Loud Team, which consists of singers and a pianist, sing weekly with residents in assisted living, rehabilitation, and memory care communities. Pre-Covid, we danced and held hands with residents and hope to do so again when it is safe. Throughout the pandemic, we sang together through Zoom and since May, fully vaccinated, we have been singing in person. It is not a one-way street. During each session, our team shares a bit of what is going on in our lives, which leads to conversations on an array of topics and fosters genuine friendships. Singing not only lifts the spirits of the residents but is deeply rewarding for us.

Benefits of Singing
In our communities, we have observed that singing stimulates the brain and strengthens social connections within the group and with their loved ones. It also improves their mood and quality of life. Most importantly, it brings us all joy.
